This is the story of Abby.
On a cold winter day, we
were rescued by Abby.
You see, we had lost our
beloved dog three months
previously. We were
absolutely lost and could
not really see a reason to
go on. Our hearts and
home were so empty. It
was very difficult to get up
and face every new day.
To fill time and to distract
ourselves we would look at
the Internet every night at
anything and everything.
One night my wife was
looking on the Internet and
found Abby. She had
been abandoned in the middle
of winter and was found
wandering around, by the dog
warden. She was
approximately three months
old and weighed nine pounds.
The dog warden brought her
to the local shelter where
she was put in a cage with a
full grown chow-chow and a
full grown pit bull.
After three days, the dog
warden was going to put her
down, when a wonderful
rescue organization came in
and took her away from this
horrible place. They
posted an ad on
petfinder.com, with her
pictures and description.
This is where my wife came
upon Abby.
We
started making phone calls
the next day. It
turned out to be rather
difficult to track Abby
down, but track her down we
did. We made
arrangements to visit her on
a Saturday. It turned
out to be a blizzard on
Saturday, and it was a long
ride. But on the way
back, it wasn't a long ride
at all, because we had our
Abby with us. When we
were given Abby's vet
records it turned out that
she was born the day before
our firstborn baby had
passed away. We like
to think they passed each
other, Abby coming from
Heaven and our firstborn
going to Heaven. Abby
has filled our hearts and
our home with life, love and
joy. So you see, we
never rescued Abby, she
rescued us.
